Considerations for Body Waxing Services @ Studio 9 Salon

When it comes to body waxing, safety precautions and awareness of medication restrictions are essential to prevent adverse reactions and ensure a successful waxing experience. Firstly, individuals taking blood thinners, those with diabetes, phlebitis, or those seeking hair removal in post-cancer treatment areas should be cautious and typically avoid waxing, as these conditions can affect skin sensitivity and healing.

Additionally, it is important to avoid waxing over areas with rash, scars, skin grafts, pimples, cold sores, or moles, as well as within a week of receiving dermabrasion services or Botox/collagen injections.

Waxing over weakened or broken blood vessels, which can be more prevalent in smokers or those with Rosacea, should also be avoided to prevent irritation and damage to the area.

*** Some medications and skincare products that contain retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or antibiotics can increase skin sensitivity and the likelihood of skin lifting during waxing. It is critical to consult with a healthcare provider before waxing if using any medications or products that may affect the skin's integrity, and to inform our waxing professional of any concerns.***

When considering body waxing, safety precautions and awareness of medication restrictions are paramount to prevent adverse reactions and ensure an effective waxing session. It's advisable for those on blood thinners, individuals with diabetes, individuals with phlebitis, or individuals seeking to remove hair in areas affected by post-cancer treatments to avoid either waxing or proceed with extreme caution, as these conditions can affect the skin's sensitivity and healing. Additionally, waxing should not be performed on areas with rashes, recent scar tissue, pimples, cold sores, moles, or warts, nor should it be performed within a week of dermabrasion services or within a week of Botox or collagen injections.

Persons with dilated capillaries, which are often more noticeable in individuals who smoke or have Rosacea, should refrain from waxing the affected areas to avert irritation and damage.

**** Certain medications and skincare products, particularly those comprising retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or antibiotics, are known to heighten skin sensitivity, increasing the risk of skin lifting during the waxing process.****

It is essential to consult with healthcare professionals before waxing if such medications or products that might affect the skin's condition are being used, and to disclose any pertinent information to our waxing specialist.
